Van Ryn’s 15 Year Old Fine Cask Reserve:

Current World Brandy at the 2014 International Spirit Competition in London and regulat Gold medallist at both ISC and International Wine and Spirit Competition. Rich gold in colour, with hints of tobacco pouch, vibrant citrus and sweet honey on the nose. In the mouth it is full, round and smooth with caramel, dark chocolate mibgling with the subtle oak flavours. Great on its own or over a blob of ice.

Boplaas 8-year old Potstill:

Close to my heart from the Klein Karoo where I grew up - from the Port specialist Carel Nel, gorgeous mature fruit favours mingle with the dusty Karoo bossies from the veld and the rich, red soil. It tastes the best in the Karoo. It is made in one of the smallest copperstills still in use for brandy production. This is the brandy of my soul.

KWV 12 Year Old Potstill Brandy:

Vibrant gold colour, with caramel and honey, potpourri and dried fruit on the nose. The palate is beautifully balanced with rich fruit and nut flavours - silky and smooth with a sweet-spice finish. This brandy scooped the World Brandy award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in the year of its release (2014).

Winnie Bowman
A qualified physiotherapist and biomedical scientist, and holder of a PhD in Education, Winnie developed an interest in wine during her student days at Stellenbosch and later through frequent travels to international winegrowing areas. She is a Cape Wine Master and judges wine regularly at local and international competitions in wine and brandy (Classic Wine, Wine of the Month, Veritas, ABSA Top 10 Pinotage, Perold Blend competition, Breedekloof Food and Wine, CTICC Winelists, IWSC, Decanter, IWC, Mondial de Merlot). Winnie presents corporate and private wine tastings, teaches and writes about wine and food. Winnie has curated at South African brandy exhibition for the Pendock Wine Gallery: ’N Vuur Gevang in Glas.
